Choosing Guitar lessons is easier when you understand what the fee covers and why different students may pay different amounts. At Academy of Rock in Siglap, the regular Guitar lesson fee depends on the learning pathway or grade, lesson duration, time band and lesson format.

This guide explains the pricing structure without assuming that the lowest-priced option is automatically the right one. The main Guitar lessons page remains the source for the complete current fee table and lesson availability.

Quick answer: how are AOR Guitar lessons priced?

Students can choose 30- or 45-minute lessons, and the displayed fee depends on the selected pathway or grade and whether the timetable is off-peak or peak.

11 scheduled lessons per term. Each term spans three months, with fees billed monthly.

Paid Trials use the rounded one-lesson amounts recorded in the Shared Pricing Register. Regular small groups use the applicable individual fee as their starting point, with an approved discount for each student. AOR also offers a separate ten-session beginner Guitar workshop with its own fixed price and format.

Prices shown by AOR cover lesson fees only. Additional enrolment and learning-material charges apply.

What affects the regular Guitar lesson fee?

Four main choices determine the regular fee:

  1. Learning pathway or grade. A student may learn for leisure or follow a graded pathway. The applicable level should reflect the student’s current placement rather than the level they hope to reach later.
  2. Lesson duration. Regular lessons are offered in 30- or 45-minute options. A longer lesson provides more teaching time, but the suitable duration depends on the learner’s age, concentration, level and goals.
  3. Time band. Off-peak and peak fees follow the confirmed weekly time bands below.
  4. Lesson format. A student may learn privately or join a suitable regular small group. Group placement depends on compatible students and scheduling, so availability should always be confirmed with the front desk.

The regular structure is 11 scheduled lessons per term. Each term spans three months, with fees billed monthly. The complete live fee table should remain the reference if a price changes after this guide is prepared.

The confirmed time bands are:

  • Tuesday–Friday: off-peak 11:00am–4:00pm; peak 4:00pm–8:30pm.
  • Saturday–Sunday: peak 10:00am–5:30pm; off-peak after 5:30pm–8:00pm.

Should you choose 30 or 45 minutes?

A 30-minute lesson provides a shorter, focused session. A 45-minute lesson gives the teacher and student more time for technique, repertoire, musicianship and review within one session.

There is no single duration that is best for everyone. A learner’s age is only one consideration. Current ability, attention, practice habits and goals matter too. If you are unsure, a paid trial gives the teacher and front desk a practical basis for recommending a suitable option.

How is the paid Guitar trial calculated?

A paid Trial is one lesson. The owner-confirmed rounded prices are S$75 for 30 minutes and S$85 for 45 minutes during off-peak hours, or S$80 for 30 minutes and S$95 for 45 minutes during peak hours. Use these confirmed rounded amounts rather than deriving a different formula.

The trial is an opportunity to experience the teaching approach and discuss an appropriate starting point. It does not guarantee a particular teacher, timetable, group placement or examination result.

Private Guitar lessons

Private one-to-one lessons provide individual attention and flexible pacing. The teacher can shape the session around the student’s current technique, musical interests and learning goals.

This format may suit a complete beginner who wants close guidance, a returning player rebuilding confidence, or a graded student working on specific requirements. The applicable fee still depends on the confirmed pathway or grade and the selected lesson duration.

Regular small-group Guitar lessons

Regular Guitar groups can have two or three students:

  • In a two-student group, each student receives 20% off the applicable individual fee.
  • In a three-student group, each student receives 30% off the applicable individual fee.
  • Three students is the maximum regular group size.

The discount is applied to each student’s applicable individual fee. Suitable placement depends on student matching, level compatibility and timetable availability. AOR should confirm the placement before a family or learner relies on a group price.

The separate ten-session beginner workshop

The beginner Guitar workshop is separate from regular private and small-group lessons. It costs S$599 in total for ten weekly 60-minute sessions. Materials are included.

The workshop is designed for 5–10 beginner children, teens or adults. Fixed dates are confirmed when at least five suitable participants are ready. Ask the front desk about the next suitable intake rather than assuming immediate availability.

What other charges should a learner expect?

The published lesson fee is not the complete cost of learning Guitar. The approved public wording is:

Prices shown cover lesson fees only. Additional enrolment and learning-material charges apply.

Required regular learning materials are purchased separately through the AOR website. A learner also needs access to their own Guitar for home practice, although Guitars are available in AOR’s lesson rooms.

A simple checklist before choosing

Before booking, consider:

  • Is the learner starting for enjoyment or following a graded pathway?
  • Would 30 or 45 minutes better suit their concentration, level and goals?
  • Do they prefer individual attention or learning with a suitable small group?
  • Is the beginner workshop a better fit than ongoing weekly lessons?
  • Can they practise on their own Guitar between lessons?
  • Have the current fee, lesson band, additional charges and availability been confirmed?
